Economic Study
Reveals 6.75:1 job ration
and billions in
economic impact if Asarco re-opens
Asarco retained
the Institute for Policy and Economic Development at the University of Texas
at El Paso (UTEP) to conduct the economic impact study. The results show
that if Asarco was permitted to resume copper smelting activities in El Paso
it would have a substantial affect on the economies of El Paso, Amarillo,
and the state of Texas.
