"I want to work for Asarco"

March 2007

Asarco has been a proud part of El Paso since 1887. We have employed more than 25,000 people over the years and have been one of El Paso County's top taxpayers when in operation. Asarco has also played an important part in the history of El Paso.

Asarco donated over 100 acres to the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) formerly known as Texas Western and College of Mines. College of Mines was soon graduating highly qualified engineers, some of whom came to work at Asarco. Even today, Asarco continues to hire UTEP engineers.

Asarco has worked with the El Paso Film Commission to allow on-location shooting for such movies as "Glory Road," "The Day After Tomorrow," and "Kingpin" at the smelter.

Asarco has partnered with the Border Patrol, Customs, National Guard, and the U.S. Army to provide locations and facilities for operations and training.

Being a part of the community is important to everyone at Asarco.
