The main mission of the Mineral Discovery Center is to communicate the vital importance of the mining industry in our civilization, to educate students and teachers in earth sciences, and to preserve part of the mining history of Arizona and the western United States.

After touring the AMDC, we receive many letters from the students expressing their appreciation for this exciting opportunity.  Here are some examples on how the children and teachers feel about our program and our tours:

“Thank you for letting us come for free.  I learned about copper.”

“My favorite part was going on the tour. Can we go back again?”

“My best part was looking at the trucks!”

“Every minute there was amazing! Thank you for the time at the mine.”

“Please know that these activities are vital to a quality school experience.
We are grateful and want you to know the difference you’ve made for our students”.
